The first question off my lips when I saw this album was "can Jeru cut it without Premier's backing on the production tip?" This is the first release where he not only writes his rhymes, but also handles most of the production. Jeru has no problems bringing it in terms of lyrics and subject matter, but the maturity and depth of production that Primo brought to the table is missing on a few tracks which suffer from cheesy choruses and simplistic loops. The majority of the tracks are well-suited to the Damaja's flow and there are definitely enough banging tracks to get one's head bobbing to his scientifical madness. Jeru also introduces an element of surprise by featuring a female MC (Miz Marvel) who provides a nice counterpoint to his rugged flow. [7/10] |
