Northern Sulphuric Soul - An interview with Mark Rae from Rae and Christian

Northern Sulphuric Soul
Words by Full Circle

It didn't take long before Grand Central Records started to earn the respect of the international hip hop community. Formed in Manchester by Mark Rae five years ago, this innovative label started building potent compounds of Hip-Hop and soul, pooling local talent and growing from strength to strength. They are currently releasing some of the freshest sounds on the UK Hip-Hop scene.

Mark works alongside partner Steve Christian as the production duo of Rae & Christian, crafting progressive Hip-Hop beats with rich melodies and infectious grooves. Their dope debut 'Northern Sulphuric Soul' was released last year and features Jeru the Damaja, the Jungle Brothers, and YZ amongst others. The good news is that they have been hard at work in the studio with a new album due for release soon. Central Heating 2, the most recent of the label's compilation series, is marching out of the more discerning record stores at pace.
